String Orchestra
Digital Music Creation & Composition
In this innovative orchestra course, students dive into the world of digital music creation. Using tools like Soundtrap, they explore how to compose musical loops, create original podcasts, and produce polished digital tracks. Students gain hands-on experience with the “tricks of the trade”—skills they can apply from elementary school through college.
- Throughout the course, students will:
- Learn how to navigate and utilize Soundtrap
- Develop songwriting and composition techniques
- Understand basic copyright concepts (including the use of royalty-free loops)
- Remix, master, and produce high-quality audio projects
Digital music management is also a key component, as students learn how to organize, save, and share their work effectively. In alignment with Common Core standards, they practice responsible digital citizenship through posting, reviewing, and providing feedback on peer projects.
The course culminates in a collaborative project where students compile their original works into a class “Album,” celebrating their creativity and growth throughout the school year.
