Dress code

Dear Seth Low Parents and Students:We ask that students attending our school wear clothing that is comfortable, clean, and appropriate for an elementary school.

Since school is a place of business and learning, students are expected to “dress for success.” In order to provide students with an environment conducive to learning, I would like to remind you of our school’s standard of appropriate dress:

Inappropriate dress includes but is not limited to:

Head coverings, except for religious purposes, for both males and females, are not permitted.

No provocative or suggestive clothing shall be worn in school. Inappropriate clothing includes: beach wear, short-shorts, pants or skirts hanging below the waist, tube tops, spaghetti straps, halters, see-through tops, tank tops, midriff tops.

Tops must extend to the waist and meet the waistband of pants, skirts or shorts.

Undergarments must be concealed at all times.

Shorts must extend to the length of one’s fingertips when standing straight up. Mini-skirts and short-shorts may not be worn.

Flip-flops and slides are not permitted. These are a safety risk.

Pajama pants/tops are not permitted.

Clothing with inappropriate language or graphics, as determined by school officials, is not permitted.

Students must wear school shirts or class colors daily.

Grade 6 – Class of 2028 – Black Shirts

Grade 7 – Class of 2027 – Green Shirts

With the support and cooperation of our students, parents, and staff, PS 179 will be a positive and productive learning environment.
